Greetings fellow Jalops! I need advice as I am looking to get rid of my 1994 Ford Taurus. I recently found a 2001 CR-V EX 4wd (not pictured) for $3000. It has a clean title, auto transmission, and with 212,000 miles on it. I'm looking for a car that will last 5 or so years. Is this a decent car for the price? Are there any specific problems that have been known in these models? Should I look for specific issues when I take a look at it this weekend?
Thanks for your input! It is so very helpful!

I had a 97 as my first hand me down car. I loved it and have no complaints. We got rid of ours at 230k with a lot of things broken, still running well tho. I would not recommend a 15 year old car to last 5 years especially at that mileage. I’ve heard honda automatics aren’t reliable so it might benefit you to find a manual. Realistically your much better off finding a second gen with half the miles for 7-8k instead

I have never owned one but I do like them. The first gen CRV and RAV 4s are underappreciated rides.

Borrowed one of these once - seemed top-heavy, not very well planted. Look at a RAV4 or a second or third gen CR-V.

Keep an eye on the front suspension. Overall, I loved mine. Not great mileage, but very useful vehicle.

I had on of these as my first car and drove it for 3 years. Terrible seats, tons of body roll, poor highway passing ability, surprisingly bad on gas. That said, the thing was BULLETPROOF. Never had a single problem with it.
